Abstract
A new direct boundary contour mode-matching method is presented for the efficient calculation of the modal scattering matrix of rectangular waveguide structures with obstacles of shaped contours in the H-plane. Based immediately on the analytically given rectangular waveguide eigenfunctions, the coupling integrals along the inhomogeneous cross-section contour are calculated by a simple weighted GAUSSIAN quadrature. The efficiency of the method is demonstrated at the fast CAD of asymmetric and double circular post coupled rectangular waveguide resonator filters. The starting values for the optimization are advantageously calculated by a modal COHN synthesis. Reference values verify the theory by excellent agreement.
