Abstract :
The turbo code is widely noticed as a code that can achieve a performance close to Shannon´s limit. The proposal for the IMT-2000 standard introduces the turbo code for the high rate and high quality data transmission system that is being constructed for mobile telecommunications. We have developed a turbo decoder for trial manufacture, installed it in the cdma2000 experimental system, and evaluated the system performance with this decoder. We investigated whether the turbo code has a sufficient performance in comparison with the conventional Viterbi decoder
