Abstract :
Fading is one of the major factors upon which reliable communication through an HF link depends. Due to this phenomenon, errors occur in the received message in terms of the character error rate (CER). This paper describes the design of an expert system (HFEXPERT), for data transmission over an HF channel, based on CER analysis. HFEXPERT was to improve the performance of a 100 Watt HF communication link at 4075 kHz between Pilani and Delhi, spanning a distance of 158 km.<>
