Abstract
An approach to cellular PCS (personal communication service), i.e., the use of intelligent microcell deployment, is discussed. In the approach, each microcell consists of smaller connected regions called zones. The remote zone sites are connected to the host via fiber optic cable or microwave link. RF energy is directed to the zone that best serves the user through a switching system that resides in the master, or host cell site. Power is dynamically routed to the zone that best serves the user
