Abstract :
This paper has studied AC breakdown behaviour for different surface roughness and protrusions in SF6/N2 and SF 6 for contrast. Experiment results show that decrease of AC breakdown voltage along with increase of electrode surface roughness from 1.6 to 25 μm is extremely large so that the decrease of AC breakdown voltage greatly exceeds that due to adding N2 into SF6 to form SF6/N2=60/40. The experimental data and conclusions can be used as a reference for designers working in the field of gaseous insulation
