Abstract :
A 500kV compact repetitive Marx generator with double-charging way was developed and tested. This generator is composed of 12 inductively isolated capacitor stages parallel charged through the rod-shaped inductors with the magnetic core. The charging time was shortened in the pulse charging mode. The field distortion gas switches which realized serial discharge and the non-inductive capacitors were arranged in a cross-strip row, and together with trigger sharpen circuit and charging partial circuit were placed in square transformer oil tank, thus, the cramped construction was established. By the analysis and test, output pulse peak voltage is 500kV, the rise time is less than 80ns, the stored-energy in bank of capacitors is about 130J. With a repetition rate of 1Hz~5Hz, the generator can operate steadily under a pressure of 1.5atm dry-pure SF6.
