Abstract :
The Naval Surface Warfare Center South Florida Test Facility (NSWC-SFTF) recently upgraded the acoustic tracking capability on its 600 Foot Test Range, the new acoustic tracking system uses all COTS hardware to perform A/D conversion, signal detection, and localization. Pings are generated by systems adopted from other Navy programs and the existing in-water SFTF hydrophones and telemetry are re-used. The new tracking system produces very smooth tracks. Tracks of surface targets mimic tracks produced by the SFTF optical tracking system but show systematic differences. More work is required to determine the cause of these systematic differences
