Abstract
We investigate the time-frequency representations (TFRs) for the analysis of speech signals. In order to compare the performance of some typical TFRs, e.g., spectrogram (SG), the generalized time-frequency representation with cone-shaped kernal (CK), and reduced interference distribution (RID), several experiments have been conducted using simulated signals as well as speech signals. We also formulate an algorithm for efficient computation of CK as well as RID, and present experimental results which demonstrate the potential power of the technique for speech.<>
