Abstract :
Electrical installations of floor and central heating systems are considered to be installations of increased electric shock risk. This is mainly due to the possibility of an earth fault occurring part-way along a heating unit, or the possibility of the penetration of a heating unit by a nail or screw or the like. Requirements for installations of floor and ceiling heating systems are included in Section 753 of BS 7671: 2008 (IEE Wiring Regulations Seventeenth Edition), in Part 7 - Special Installations or Locations. There is no equivalent section in BS 7671: 2001 (IEE Wiring Regulations Sixteenth Edition). As with all the sections of Part 7, the requirements of Section 753 supplement and modify the general requirements of BS 7671. Installations of floor and ceiling heating systems in locations containing a bath or shower, or in locations containing a swimming pool or other basin, are also subject to the requirements for these special locations, given in other sections of Part 7.
