  • Abstract
A new magnetically insulated line oscillator (MILO) with two extracted vanes and coaxial varied impedance load structure was presented and analyzed. Simulation showed them to substantially outperform previous MILO variants, predicting efficiencies up to about 20%. Two distinct mechanisms were shown to contribute to this high efficiency. The first was the two extracted vanes adopted which usage was like the extracted vanes of the relativistic klystron. The second was the coaxial varied impedance (CVI) load structure adopted which changed the load impedance equals the MILO impedance and also could separate the operated beam to leave the operating region. Under the diode voltage of 550kV, the current of 28kA, microwave with the output power of 3GW and the frequency of 2.76GHz had been got in the simulation.
