Abstract :
We describe an experimental 154 Mbit/s two-channel coherent FDM fiber communication system using external grating cavity lasers operating at 1546 nm. It includes a laser frequency stabilization IF servo-circuit consisting of an optical phase-locked loop used for IF frequency stabilization and direct current modulation of a wide range tunable laser with narrow linewidth. The receive sensitivity, measured at the output of the transmission link were -49.2 dBm and -47.8 dBm at a 10/sup -9/ error rate.<>
