Abstract :
Self-interference and self-noise are key performance factors in cellular devices. Cellular standards such as GSM, UMTS and LTE include requirements for the measurement and reporting of the power and quality of received downlink signals. The purpose of these measurements is so the UE can report radio conditions to the network which are then used to optimize the Radio Resource Management (RRM) algorithms responsible for cell re-selection and handover procedures. This paper introduces a novel self-interference and self-noise evaluation method for MIMO receivers based on the device´s own measurement capabilities which can be calibrated against known signals.
