Abstract
The goal of this paper is to study the interference between data and voice channels using different pairs inside the same four-pair UTP cable´s sheath in structured cabling systems. Interference effects are evaluated theoretically from the channel model developed for this study which has been validated through field measurements in regular used structured cabling systems. The interference of the data channel over the voice channel is evaluated by means of the induced psophometric voltage through field measurements. Likewise the interference of the voice channel is evaluated through the bit error rate (BER) in the data channel when the voice channel is active. More than just analyzing the interference between data and voice channels this paper shows some interesting interference relations between analog and digital signals as well.
