Abstract
In the paper the theoretical modeling of initial stage of the unipolar arc ignition is described. It was shown that the ignition process may depend on the external circuit characteristics especially on the plasma-electrode capacity. The phenomena of small (up to several μm) crater formation can be explained on the basis of accumulated discharge concept. A very strong dependence of arc spot behavior on plasma parameters was found.
