Abstract :
The worldwide introduction of synchronous digital hierarchy in telecommunications networks, combined with a fast evolution of radio applications in the access areas, has originated a new generation radio family, offering a complete range of transported capacities and frequency bands. Some major innovative aspects of this new SDH radio are highlighted focusing on adopted baseband and microwave technologies and on corresponding advantages in transmission quality performance in point-to-point systems. The impact of a modern network supervision (TMN) on the general architecture of such radio systems is also presented, describing the implemented solutions and the basic evolving strategy
