Abstract :
The measurement system is designed for coherent bistatic RCS measurements from 2-18 GHz and 30-36 GHz. The system sensitivity is approximately -60 dBsm with S/N= 1 and an output power of 1 W at Ku-band. The system consists of three major parts that can be easily separated. The transmitter section, which includes one HP8672A synthesized signal generator, the pulse modulator, the output amplifier and the transmitting antennas. The receiver section, which also includes one HP8672A as the system LO, receiving mixers and receiving antennas. The IF processing control section, which handles all the data acquisition, position-, polarisation-, band-, and timing-control. The coherency is obtained by use of an fibre optic link for transferring a microwave reference signal at the RF frequency from the transmitter into the IF section
