Abstract :
The IKN Pendulum Cooler design is realized with emphasis on clinker transport, heat recuperation at low operating cost. Various parameters determine the design of the cooler. These can be summarized as transport, aeration and plant design parameters. The Pendulum Cooler closely applies the cross flow principle which requires an undisturbed clinker bed being transported horizontally across a source of fine-meshed vertical air flow. Further important factors are availability, reliability, and operability of the equipment. Excessive wear and unscheduled stoppages are avoided. Maintenance on the grate surface is simple due the self-cleaning features of this Cooler. The grate surface consists of COANDA nozzles (sometimes referred to as special nozzles) which produce strong horizontal air jets with high dynamic pressure that keeps the jets adjacent to the grate surface.
