Abstract :
Removable user identity module (R-UIM) is widely deployed in GSM, known as SIM (subscriber identity module). It is expected that such R-ULM will be also available for ANSI based third generation systems. However, unlike GSM based systems, ANSI based systems have a potential issue so called “MSID-ESN decoupling” associated with deployment of R-UIM. This paper identifies this issue and proposes a network support scenario for third generation ANSI based R-UIM
