Abstract :
We propose an implementation of dynamic frequency hopping (DFH) for cellular systems with synchronized bases. The implementation uses network assisted resource allocation (NARA), which is based upon “real-time” inter-base signaling. We review the concept of DFH and propose a supporting network and signaling structure for DFH with NARA. We find that the resulting system complexity, in terms of the mobile measurements, over the air signaling, and inter-base signaling, is not high. Using voice traffic as an example, we find that for the system considered, DFH has twice the user capacity compared to traditional random frequency hopping schemes
