  • Abstract
In this paper we have proposed a new theory and technology system to solve the problem of geographic spatio-temporal information visualization. The core of our system is the "Particle Theory" in which "Particle" is a geographic spatio-temporal semantic cell. Furthermore, based on the thought stated above we studied the realization technology of the geographic spatio-temporal information visualization with Geo-VRML and Streaming Media technology. With Geo-VRML we can realize the geographic modeling and information expression. On the other hand, we use the Streaming Media technology to solve the problem of data organization, data compression, data un-compression, Web transmission and so on. With the theory and technology stated above, we have realized the mineral region geographic information spatio-temporal visualization system on Web that is free to any users. The successful development of our system, validates the feasibility of our research
