Abstract :
The problem of electromagnetic scattering from heterogeneous random medium is the main subject of investigation in this paper. The random medium dielectric model is derived using the strong permittivity fluctuation theory. The polarimetric backscattering coefficients of a given two- layer non homogeneous medium are derived (the expressions of ¿hh, ¿vv, ¿hv are represented). Such a medium configguration having one heterogeneous region of thickness ´d´ (the second one is isotropic and semi-infinite) can be used as a plant-covered soil model, snow-covered soil model etc., for environmental remote sensing purposes.
