Abstract :
The authors proposed a novel reflectarray feed system to excite TEM mode in parallel plate waveguide antenna. A metal post with a group of vias as the ground plane between the two parallel plates will constitute the cell element of the reflectarray. This cell element is designed to work at 12.25 GHz for satellite communications. By changing the post height, 340 degrees phase swing is achieved. The reflection loss of the cell elements is below 0.1 dB. Being compact and low loss makes this feed system suitable for many telecommunication applications.
