Abstract
The all-optical network has many differences from a traditional SONET/SDH network, and thus has introduced many new considerations in planning and migration for carriers. This paper describes Sprint´s strategy leading up to a potential all-optical network deployment. The most critical network requirements and the key outstanding issues with all-optical networks are also highlighted.
