Abstract :
Cognitive ultra-wideband(UWB) radio is supposed to economically solve the evermore serious problem of a spectrum scarcity at frequencies. In order to achieve this purpose, adaptive UWB pulse generation and spectrum allocation algorithm are investigated for utilizing the unique capability of UWB and cognitive radio technology. In this paper, an adaptive pulse generation algorithm based on a new pulse waveform design method of ultra wideband pulse is presented and employed into an UWB communication system with different Rake receiver, which can explore the adaptive pulse generation to realize a high date rate and high performance cognitive radio communication system. We evaluate this cognitive ultra-wideband radio system in a multi-path channel model proposed by the 802.15.3a Working Group and give the BER performance. With concern of acceptable complexity of system structure and low interference to primary (often licensed) users, this proposed scheme can be applied to different scenario.
