Abstract
We apply techniques of geometric control theory to stimulated Raman adiabatic passage (STIRAP) in the rotating-wave approximation (RWA). After reduction to real variables, we develop a systematic way of designing laser pulses to improve the transfer that allows one to reach the target state precisely.
