Abstract :
Because of the equivalent number of electrons and ions and the random distribution of trapped carriers in energy and space levels, an irradiated dielectric appears almost neutral. How to observe the ionization effects in irradiated solid dielectrics is a difficult problem. By using the technique of surface potential measurement we can easily observe the accumulated opposite charges near the electrodes and thus analyse the ionization effects in γ-ray irradiated dielectrics
