Abstract
In order to achieve very low range side-lobe (<-75dB) for pulse compression of spaceborne meteorological radar, the spatial average technique is developed. This technique coherently averages, which corresponding windowed weighting in frequency domain, the scattered signals from several neighbored range resolution cells of higher resolution pulse compression measurements. Some considerations about the design of the basic higher resolution pulse compression are presented. Integral and peak side-lobe level characteristics are analyzed. Relationship between the new and other available techniques of very low side-lobe level pulse compression is also discussed.
