Abstract
Raman gain saturation of several dB can occur even for moderate signal power levels. This demonstrates the necessity of active gain control for distributed Raman amplification. In the presentation, we will investigate the time characteristics of Raman gain changes, and look into different schemes of dynamic Raman gain control.
