Abstract :
Millimeter-wave applications such as giga-bps wireless communication are opening a new market. In particular, recent nanometer CMOS circuits realizing millimeter-wave front ends have a potential in markedly reducing the cost of new applications. In this presentation, we will introduce a new millimeter-wave CMOS architecture for high-speed communications. A new architecture without using a legacy oscillator can reduce power consumption by 1/10 to 1/100 compared with conventional architectures, which enables millimeter-wave circuits to be embedded even in a cellular phone.
