Abstract
A review of applications of fiber-based optical parametric amplifiers for optical communications is presented with an emphasis on signal processing applications utilizing properties of phase-insensitive optical parametric amplifiers (OPA). Applications featuring the multi-functional properties of OPAs, such as all-optical signal sampling, time-demultiplexing, pulse generation, and wavelength conversion are presented and discussed.
