Abstract
In order to analyze the generation and discharge characteristics of domestic wastewater pollutants from the residents of different genders, ages and regions, the whole generation process of domestic wastewater from typical households was investigated in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming and Lanzhou. The results showed that the daily per capita load of domestic wastewater pollutants were influenced by urban economic development level, living habits and dietary structure, while the daily per capita loads of CODCr, BOD5, and TN in Beijing and eastern costal cities such as Shanghai and Guangzhou were higher than those in western cities like Kunming and Lanzhou. Ages were significantly correlated to the domestic wastewater quantity of urban residents, daily per capita pollutant load, and the pollutants producing coefficient in such sequence as the middle-aged and youth > the elderly > children. The average daily pollutant load from washing wastewater were in the sequence as female > male, which was related with living habits caused by gender difference. The discharge quantity and the daily per capita pollutant loads of urine, stool and wastewater were determined by metabolic rate of different ages in such sequence that the middle-aged and youth > the elderly > children.
