Abstract
An experimental and theoretical investigation of polarization switching (PS) and transverse mode locking of a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) subject to orthogonal optical injection was provided. Experimental mapping of the polarization switching and transverse modes competition in the plane of frequency detuning vs. injection power was performed. It is shown that PS is achieved with bistability over the whole frequency detuning range.
