Abstract
The paper describes the design of a high-stress 110 kV cable with cross-linked polyethylene insulation and the manufacturing process used in Russia since 1982. The novel features of this cable are a so-called emission shield between the conductor shield and the insulation as well as a reduced insulation wall thickness. Test specifications and test results are described. Since 1982 about 1100 km of the described cable have been produced and placed in service with 2200 joints and 1100 terminations
