Abstract
In this paper simple model for cell size calculations in LTE downlink at 800 MHz frequency band is given. Based on Okomura-Hata propagation model, the equation for maximal cell radius is calculated taking into account: the height and gain of both base and mobile station antenna, transmitter power and losses, receiver sensitivity, and multipath fading effects. Numerous simulations have been performed in order to give insight into signal propagation in European urban, suburban and rural area. The possibility to use various modulation techniques in cells with different sizes was analyzed.
