Abstract
Saturation of the SOA with a counter-propagating pump signal was proposed to mimimize the effects of self-gain modulation that occurs in the SOA in a self phase modulation (SPM) setup. This setup is used to convert broadband double sideband signals to the vestigial sideband (VSB) format.
