Abstract :
Analysis, modeling, design, fabrication, and performance of a flush-mountable cavity-backed lens-loaded sinuous antenna operating in the frequency range from 500 MHz to 3 GHz are discussed. Antenna is subjected to high power tests to evaluate its viability for high power applications. More than 10× higher power rating than that of traditional sinuous antennas and preserved quasi-frequency independent performance are demonstrated. Presented results pave the way for the use of sinuous antennas in many non-traditional applications requiring higher powers and high-quality of the radiated field over very wide frequency ranges.
