Abstract :
Hub-and-spoke enterprises cluster refers to the collaborative enterprises network, which is consisted of leading firms and small and medium enterprises based on specialization and division of labor. The advantage of hub-and-spoke cluster lies in the fact that it is able to effectively reap the benefits of both incremental innovation and radical innovation. Firstly, this paper analyzes the interactive learning mechanism of hub-and-spoke clusters in perspective of vertical, horizontal and multifold dimension. Secondly, it defines the different role of clustering members in cluster innovation. Thirdly, it proposes the layered coupling innovation model of hub-and-spoke cluster. Finally, the crucial role of leading firms in innovation process is discussed.
