Abstract
Intelligent network disk (IND) is a novel idea of storage architecture. IND cluster is a new way for mass storage. As a mass storage system, the storage method and its algorithm design are discussed in the paper. First, in order to prevent IND load from overloading and decreasing delay of high concurrent read requests, a buffer is allocated to store duplicate of file which is accessed frequently. Second, according to the condition of busy and idle, IND handling capability and storage capacity in system, an optimal IND selected for writing file is found so that rational distribution of files is attained among INDs. Finally, aiming at load status that vary with time, the method can adjust load of each IND to system´s average load ratio to improve storage efficiency as a whole. Practice show that the system can run under normal conditions through using this storage policy. A mass storage system which can operate efficiently and stably is very important and beneficial to high performance computing.
