Abstract
The RadioStar programme at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology is focused on understanding the limiting factors in subsurface imaging using electromagnetic waves. A prototype radar system using state-of-the-art technology is developed as a platform for research in ultra-wideband 3-D radar imaging methods. A particular focus is placed in the problem of microwave rendering, or how to make use of microwaves to produce images that go beyond the quality of traditional speckled radar images. The programme aims at developing new and improved hardware and software components that will ultimately lead to more capable and easy to use radar imagers.
