Abstract :
Non-square systems have an unequal number of inputs and outputs. Insofar as the authors are aware, no existing paper provides an overview of the methods used for dealing with non-square systems. Generally speaking, non-square MPC techniques are process dependent and non-generic. It is thought that the control community would benefit from a systematic review of these techniques. This paper discusses and compares existing techniques, and makes recommendations regarding which to use in what circumstances. Outstanding issues are identified that future work should be directed toward.
