Bullwhip effect is a common phenomenon existing on supply chain. The most fundamental causes of the bullwhip effect is demand forecast updating, and the information sharing amongst the supply chain is the most effective approach to mitigate the detrimental impact of bullwhip effect. This paper analyzes the benefit and cost of the information acquisition which helps to judge if the information sharing planning is worthy or the actions should be taken to cut the information cost.
