Abstract :
Hardware design and implementation of a direction of arrival (DOA) estimation block operating at 5.8GHz is presented in this paper with an emphasis on the Translation/Receiver board which represents the core of the DOA block. The Latter is composed of an 8-element uniform circular array antenna, a translation or a receiver board, a data acquisition card, and a PC interface that enables processing of the acquired signals to yield the DOA estimates. The hardware implementation was successful and DOA estimation measurements were conducted using the described hardware, yielding accurate estimates.
