Abstract :
In this work a comparison between two formulations of the Conjugate Gradient Fast Fourier Transform method (CG-FFT) using a spatial domain and a spectral domain discretization scheme for volumetric bodies periodic in two directions is presented. The bodies can have arbitrary shape (under a staircase approximation to the geometry) and lossy material (electric and magnetic) composition. The clear advantages from the computational point of view of the spectral domain formulation are demonstrated.
