Abstract
Recent developments in WSS technologies enable ROADM architectures with increased wavelength routing flexibility and efficient bandwidth allocation for future capacity growth. ROADM-induced transmission impairments, mitigation strategies, and benefits of next-generation ROADMs are presented.
