Abstract :
Ka-band Radar front-end was developed as a supplement to existing C-band INW Avalanche Radar. The additional Ka-band channel was added to the existing C-band radar for to detect powder fraction of avalanches, which can have high-pressure waves inflicting enormous damages. GaAs IMPATT diodes and MMIC were used to develop Ka-band Radar front. TX and RX antennas have elliptical beam widths for to fit real avalanche geometry.
