Abstract
A hybrid genetic algorithm (GA) for optimization of beam forming in linear array antennas is presented in this paper. This algorithm is the combination of GA and direct search method, which emphasizes the global optimization characters of GA and avoids the slightly random fluctuate using GA when the result closes to perfect. Simulations were performed for synthesizing a low side-lobe cosecant squared beam antenna array and a wide beam antenna array. The results show the hybrid GA is effective.
