Abstract :
In this paper, a novel wideband microstrip patch antenna with U-shaped parasitic elements stacked with two rectangular patches on a separate layer is proposed. The antenna is simulated by the full-wave electromagnetic simulator and the results of the performance of the proposed antenna are investigated. The antenna input impedance bandwidth is 33% (4.7-6.62 GHz) with respect to the centre frequency of 5.68 GHz. The controlled frequency includes the 802.11a (5.15-5.825 GHz) band, and the antenna proposed can be used for wireless LAN. The antenna is designed on a small size ground plane (25 mm times 30 mm ) for application of compact transceivers.
