Abstract :
A pulse generation and radiation design is proposed by weakly coupling an electrically small antenna with a switched capacitor through a transformer. The transformer provides the function of voltage amplification and pulse shaping to the secondary output. The switched design on the primary side provides the necessary energy for driving the small antenna. Simulation results are presented, demonstrating that a 5.7 ns Gaussian-shaped pulse signal can be effectively generated and radiated through a small dipole by using the proposed design.
