Abstract :
The paper presents a revised definition of the mean effective gain (MEG) of terminal antennas. It now includes the gain pattern of both the transmitting (BS) and receiving (MS) antennas, the path gain matrix as well as the joint angular power distributions of the two orthogonal polarizations at both ends. A closed form equation is provided followed by the analysis of some special cases and their practical implications.
