Abstract
A novel dual-frequency monopole patch antenna for WLAN applications is presented and demonstrated in this paper. Its operating mode centered at about 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz. The antenna is analyzed by the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The simulated and measured results are presented. The measured 10 dB bandwidths achieved were 780 MHz (2.16 GHz~2.94 GHz) and 1.05 GHz (4.74 GHz~5.80 GHz) at 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz, respectively. The antenna also has the properties of simple structure, small dimension, easier to manufacture, and low cost.
